Assumptions

  • 2026-27: super guarantee 12%.
  • Amount is cash salary; super is paid on top.
  • From 1 July 2026, Payday Super requires employer super to reach your fund within 7 business days of each payday.

Worked example

On a $100,000 salary with super on top, employer super at the 12% guarantee is $12,000 a year (about $3,000 a quarter), for a $112,000 total package. If the $100,000 includes super, the cash salary is about $89,286 and super about $10,714.

Frequently asked questions

Is super included in my salary?

It depends how the amount is described. ‘Plus super’ means super is paid on top of your cash salary; ‘including super’ or ‘total package’ means the figure already contains super, so your cash salary is lower. This calculator lets you choose, so the split is right either way.

How much super do I get on $100,000?

If $100,000 is your cash salary with super on top, your employer pays 12% — that’s $12,000 a year (about $3,000 a quarter), for a $112,000 total package. If $100,000 is a package including super, the cash salary is about $89,286 and super is about $10,714.

How does Payday Super work?

From 1 July 2026, employers must pay your super guarantee at the same time as your wages — the contribution has to reach your fund within 7 business days of each payday, instead of quarterly. It doesn’t change how much super you get (still 12%), just how often it’s paid, which means it compounds a little sooner.

Is there a limit on super guarantee?

Yes. Employers don’t have to pay super guarantee on earnings above the maximum contribution base, which is $270,830 for 2026–27. There’s also a concessional (before-tax) contributions cap — $32,500 in 2026–27 — covering employer super plus salary sacrifice; amounts over the cap are taxed differently.

How much super will I have at 60 (or 67)?

Use the projection mode: enter your age, balance, salary and an expected return, and it compounds your contributions (after 15% contributions tax) and earnings (after 15% earnings tax and fees) to retirement, and shows the result in today’s dollars. It’s an estimate based on your assumptions — real returns vary and aren’t guaranteed.
