- This is an annual tax estimate, not your employer’s pay-cycle PAYG withholding (which uses ATO withholding schedules and your declarations). The amount withheld each pay can differ and is squared up at tax time.
- Low-income Medicare levy thresholds for 2026-27 aren’t published yet, so 2025-26 thresholds are used; this only affects incomes under about $35,000.
- Excludes the Medicare levy surcharge, private health, offsets other than LITO, and other income or deductions.

Frequently asked questions
How much is $100,000 after tax in Australia?
For a resident in 2026–27, $100,000 of salary (with super paid on top) has about $20,520 income tax and $2,000 Medicare levy, leaving roughly $77,480 take-home — plus $12,000 of employer super on top, for a $112,000 total package. Add a HELP debt and the take-home is lower. Your own figures above give a tailored estimate.
Is $120,000 including super the same as $120,000 plus super?
No — and it’s a big difference. ‘$120,000 plus super’ means $120,000 cash salary with 12% super ($14,400) on top, a $134,400 package. ‘$120,000 including super’ means the $120,000 is the whole package, so the cash salary is about $107,143 and super is about $12,857. Always check which one a job offer means; this calculator lets you choose.
What will I take home each fortnight?
We show your estimated take-home by year, month, fortnight and week by dividing the annual figure evenly. Note this is an annual estimate — your employer’s actual PAYG withholding each pay can differ slightly and is reconciled when you lodge your tax return.
Does salary sacrifice affect my take-home pay?
Yes. Salary sacrificing into super reduces your taxable income, so you pay less income tax and Medicare — but your take-home cash also drops by the sacrificed amount, which goes into super instead (taxed concessionally). Enter a sacrifice amount above to see the effect. It can also change your HELP repayment income.
How is HELP (HECS) repayment worked out?
From 2025–26, compulsory repayments use a marginal system: nothing below the threshold ($69,528 in 2026–27), then 15c per dollar above it, plus 17c per dollar above the second threshold — or 10% of your total income, whichever is lower. We estimate it from your taxable income plus any reportable super. It’s collected through your tax return, not your pay.
What isn’t included in this estimate?
This is a resident annual estimate covering income tax, the low income tax offset, the Medicare levy and HELP. It doesn’t include the Medicare levy surcharge, private health rebate, other tax offsets, other income or deductions, or non-resident and working-holiday-maker rates. For those, check the ATO or a registered tax agent.
