GST Calculator Australia
Add or remove Australian GST and see the amount before tax, the GST component and the final total. GST on a taxable supply in Australia is 10%, and the GST inside an inclusive price is always that price divided by 11.
Worked example
A $1,100 price that includes GST breaks down as $1,000 before GST plus $100 GST. The GST is the inclusive price divided by 11 ($1,100 ÷ 11 = $100), because GST is one-eleventh of any 10%-inclusive price.

Frequently asked questions
How do I remove GST from a price?
For a GST-inclusive price, the GST is the price divided by 11, and the amount excluding GST is the price minus that GST. For example, $1,100 ÷ 11 = $100 GST, leaving $1,000 before GST. This works because GST is one-eleventh of a price that already includes 10% GST.
How much GST is included in $1,100?
$100. A GST-inclusive amount contains GST equal to the amount ÷ 11, so $1,100 ÷ 11 = $100 of GST, and $1,000 is the price before GST.
Is GST always 10%?
The GST rate on taxable supplies in Australia has been 10% since 1 July 2000. However, not everything is a taxable supply: GST-free items (such as most basic food, and many health and education services) and input-taxed items (such as residential rent and some financial supplies) have no 10% added — they just have different GST-credit consequences.
What is the difference between GST-free and input-taxed?
Both mean no GST is charged to the customer, but they differ for the supplier. On a GST-free supply the supplier can usually still claim GST credits for the GST it paid on its own inputs. On an input-taxed supply the supplier generally cannot claim those input tax credits. This calculator never guesses an item’s classification — you choose it.
How do I add GST to a price?
Multiply the GST-exclusive amount by 1.10. The GST itself is 10% of the exclusive amount. For example, $1,000 × 1.10 = $1,100, which is $1,000 plus $100 GST.
